ITUDS to lure foreign investors with €6b of projects

TEHRAN – Some €6 billion of projects will be offered to foreign investors at the first Iran Transportation and Urban Development Summit (ITUDS), which will be held from October 3-4 in Tehran.
A wide range of investment opportunities in rail transportation; road transportation; urban development; energy saving; air transportation; marine transportation; port and airport industry; and welfare services will be introduced to European and Asian investors.Iranian Deputy Roads and Urban Development Minister Ali Nourzad said that 6 rail projects and 5 highway projects will be offered to the participants in the summit.
The Chabahar-Zahedan-Birjand railway, which will extend 1310 kilometers to connect Iran’s southeast to northeast, is one of the key projects, costing around €1.8 billion.
According to Iranian Deputy Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Mohammad Khazaee, the sixth five-year national development plan, which starts from 2016 to 2021, is forecast to attract as much as $30 billion foreign investment.
Khazaee made it clear that the Organization for Investment Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran has already been involved in planning to brace itself up for luring foreign investors and steering foreign financial resources to the country’s necessary development infrastructures.
